Chapter 84: Ambush (1)

Shortly after taking off from Saintess Fang Zhenfei’s flying profound ship, Ling Feiyue asked with a delightful smile. “So where are you planning to go next?”

Yuan Ji was in high spirits as he rubbed his chin, “Hmm, naturally it is to a place that is near to the Lofty World End Peak. We will find a quiet cave to cultivate. I need to fully prepare for my duel with the Old Master of the Hundred Flower Divine Palace.”

“Ji Yuan…” Xue Qianxue heaved a soft sigh. “Do you think that the three of us will be able to defeat him?”

Ling Feiyue smiled, “I will muster all my golden celestials to have a final showdown with him!”

Yuan Ji frowned, “Have the two of you forgotten what I have said? It is my personal duel. If I die, so be it. None of you shall interfere. Moreover, my odd of winning is 50%.”

Ling Feiyue and Xue Qianxue were pinching him all of a sudden as they chuckled together, “We don’t believe.”

“I’m a great saintess with the True Sacred Saint Profound Art and yet I don’t believe that I even have a 10% chance. Have you forgotten that he has a celestial grade divine sword?” Ling Feiyue inhaled with a deep sigh.

“Although he may have a celestial grade divine sword but I doubt that he can even divine harmonize with it. As for me, I have already achieved a perfect harmony with my heaven grade divine sword.” Yuan Ji pointed out.

Xue Qianxue said quietly, “But you are only an initial saint while he is said to be a peaked seventh realm great saint. The difference between the two of you are too great.”

Yuan Ji smiled weakly, “Profound strength isn’t everything. As long as he cannot kill me outright, my undying fighting spirit will carry me through my fight.”

“This sounds a little forced.” Ling Feiyue said weakly. “Ji Yuan, Qianxue. I can impart to you my True Sacred Saint Profound Art to you.”

Xue Qianxue was startled, “Really sister? Are you sure?”

Ling Feiyue laughed softly, “We are really close sisters. Why not?”

Ji Yuan was suddenly looking at Ling Feiyue curiously, “How did you manage to cultivate to the golden core in such a short time?”

“Actually I do not know as well. I have managed to cultivate to the golden natal core within a month. I find it a little puzzling too. I have cultivated the Pure Core within a week and the Gold Core after three weeks. The Spirit Core is a little difficult. But if I have more time, I should have no problem forming the Spirit Core.”

Yuan Ji really did not believe that it would be so easy.

Xiang Li had suddenly appeared in his soul and she was giggling, “Stop pondering so hard. Let me tell you why. It is because I have cleansed her soul sea of all impurities as the final trial reward. Therefore her cultivation speed is at least a hundred times faster.”

When Yuan Ji heard her, he was shocked. “A hundred times faster? How is it possible?!”

Xiang Li laughed, “That is also your final trial reward too. Therefore you only need slightly a month to form the Gold Core too if you were to cultivate the True Sacred Saint Profound Art.”

Yuan Ji was startled. “I thought that you say that our final trial reward is the revelation of my three past reincarnations with Ling Feiyue?”

Xiang Li was giggling, “You already know that I had lied about that part. What? You are hoping that it is the truth? If it is not for my lie, why do you think Maiden Feiyue is willing to follow you with all her heart? You broke her heart but she has never forgotten about you. Did you know that day when I told her about your three past lifetimes together, her heart was weeping inside and I could even hear it so loud and clear?”

She added with a jovial chuckle. “When you have met her again, why do you think she had said to you that she is willing to follow you to the grave? If she is really upset with you, she won’t say that, am I right?”

“Xiang Li, you know what. I actually feel like kissing your foot. Haha.” Yuan Ji laughed jovially.

“You can kowtow at the same time. I don’t mind.” Xiang Li giggled.

Yuan Ji managed a slight frown, “We have side tracked. Since our rewards are so good then why didn’t you tell us? Why did you make up a story then?”

Xiang Li was suddenly quiet before she sighed solemnly, “I was actually touched by the two of you when you have created a new combined sword art during the final trial. Therefore I had decided to give the two of you a little push with your cultivation. However what I did is against the forbidden laws of the trials as that reward is almost impossible to achieve. Someone actually achieved that reward the other day so I switch both your rewards.”

Yuan Ji smiled bitterly, “I wonder who that unlucky cultivator is?”

Xiang Li pondered for a moment before she answered, “A cultivator by the name of Lu Qingyun.”

Yuan Ji was startled, “I know him…”

“Because of what I did, I can no longer return back to the trials.” Xiang Li said quietly.

Yuan Ji smiled, “Xiang Li, thank you! I will take you around to see many, many interesting things. You won’t be alone. This is my promise to you!”

Xiang Li gasped softly as she stared blankly, “Really?”

Yuan Ji chuckled, “You are the best Xiang Li. Of course I am serious.”

Xiang Li covered her face shyly and she was almost drooling, “I am already imagining all the naked maidens that I will be seeing…”

“Xiang Li! I mean I will take you around to see the fraternity at large. Not naked maidens!” Yuan Ji returned an exasperated look.

All of a sudden Yuan Ji’s divine sense had suddenly alerted him to tens of flying mounts that were lying in ambush around the mountains.

Even Ling Feiyue and Xue Qianxue were alarmed at the same time too.

All of a sudden a powerful sword energy had flashed from the clouds and had killed their flying mount, forcing Yuan Ji, Xue Qianxue and Ling Feiyue to jump off to the mountains below.

Luckily for them they had not fly too high or else they would have plummet to the bottomless desolate mists below the mountains.

Yuan Ji had immediately unsheathed his divine sword while Ling Feiyue and Xue Qianxue also did the same.

Immediately they found themselves surrounded by more than thirty golden celestials that had jumped off their flying mounts as they greeted them with their swords!

Yuan Ji could recognize several of them; they were Third Young Master Jian Menghao, Saintess Jian Yuluo, Great Saint Jian Kang the sect master of the Profound Heaven Manor and several of the golden celestials that he had met in the trials with Jian Menghao.

That was not all.

Great Saint Jin Tianzong the sect master of the Mystic Profound Pavilion, Saint Jin Yilong and his daughter Celestial Jin Yuyun were also among the recognized faces!

“Ling Feiyue! You are not going anywhere today!” The cultivators that were surrounding them were shouting.

“Sacred Maiden Xue, we are here to rescue you! Fear not!”

“Who is this dashing man that is with them?”

“Sacred Maiden Xue, why are you drawing your sword against us? We’re on your side!”

Xue Qianxue however replied coldly, “I am afraid that you are not here to rescue me but to obtain Feiyue’s golden natal core, am I right?”

Sect Master Jin Tianzong was smiling, “Sacred Maiden Xue must have misunderstood our intentions. We are here to destroy this demoness here and to avenge the humiliations of the Orthodox Fraternity!”

Sect Master Jian Kang laughed heartily, “That is right.”

Then he grew solemn, “Surely Sacred Maiden Xue isn’t thinking of opposing us?”

Xue Qianxue hummed coldly, “That is right!”

When everyone had heard Xue Qianxue, they were startled by her reply.

At the same time Jian Menghao was smiling at Ling Feiyue, “Dark Mistress Ling Feiyue, I believe that this is the third time that we have met already. So how are you? I am really so blind as not to recognize you when we are in the Lotus Sword Mansion Trials.”

Ling Feiyue did not reply him. Instead she seemed to have completely ignored him. It was because this Jian Menghao was only a fifth realm golden celestial and he was not a real threat to her when compared to the other seventh realm experts that were here.

Jian Menghao said to the rest with a cold smirk. “As for this man, he is Li Yuan! Definitely a good-for-nothing cultivator. Since he is in their company, we should remove him as well!”

After he was forced to commit suicide in the Lotus Sword Mansion, he had managed to find out the name of the man that had caused his party to suffer such a humiliating defeat.

“Aunt. You must seek redress for your nephew today!” He stressed to Jian Yuluo.

Saintess Jian Yuluo was suddenly sighing softly, “Nephew, it is a good thing that you didn’t die when confronting this man that day. Do you know who he is?”

Jian Menghao replied with great haughtiness, “Who cares? He is but an insignificant ant in front of us!”

Jian Yuluo hummed coldly, “Then you are really blind! He is Sword Saint Ji Yuan!”

Jian Menghao and many of the cultivators took small step backward when they had heard her.

“He is Sword Saint Ji Yuan?!”

Many of them had turned ashen. It was because Sword Saint Ji Yuan was the master of the Sword Saintess Ye Chengxi and he had the reputation as the fastest sword in the celestial fraternity.

“No wonder we are all killed by him…” Gongsun Zan gasped out. He was a sixth realm golden celestial and was of the five golden celestials that was ‘killed’ by Ji Yuan in the Lotus Sword Mansion Trials.

Jian Menghao quickly composed himself and said, “Although this Ji Yuan is a saint but my aunt is also a seventh realm sword saintess. Moreover what can he do against so many of us? We have ten saints in our group!”

Saintess Jian Yuluo said coldly to him, “You have better stay clear of our battles. These three are strong opponents.”

Yuan Ji sighed softly as he looked at her, “Yuxian or should I say Saintess Yuluo, how are you?”

Saintess Jian Yuluo replied gently, “I’m fine. How have you been all these years?”

Jian Menghao was startled that his aunt had suddenly become so gentle. A while ago, she was still rebuking him coldly.

Even Ling Feiyue and Xue Qianxue were startled that Yuan Ji and Jian Yuluo were acquaintances.

Yuan Ji heaved a soft sigh, “I am good.”

Saintess Jian Yuluo nodded gently, “It seems that you are now a seventh realm expert now. Good for you.”

Yuan Ji nodded lightly.

“Your opponent today will be me.” Saintess Jian Yuluo said quietly.

As she said that, she was secretly sighing, “Ji Yuan, although I have you to thank for my status as Sword Saintess but I have already used my body to repay you. Therefore we no longer owe each other anything. Now that you have thrown your lot with the unorthodox fraternity, please do not blame me for being ruthless today!”

Yuan Ji did not have any expression nor did he bother to reply to Saintess Jian Yuluo. As a matter of fact, he was unusually calm as he monitored all his opponents at the same time.

Everyone was secretly startled. Two sword saints would soon be dueling against each other!

At the same time the two sect masters of the Profound Heaven Manor and the Mystic Profound Pavilion, Great Saint Jian Kang and Great Jin Tianzong were now looking coldly at Ling Feiyue.

As for Xue Qianxue, Saint Jin Yilong was smiling as he moved to block her. Following him were two saints from the Mystic Profound Pavilion and two saints from the Profound Heaven Manor!

Altogether there were still more than twenty golden celestials that were from the fifth to the sixth realm that were shifting their battle positions around Yuan Ji, Ling Feiyue and Xue Qianxue as they waited for an opportunity to attack them.

Yuan Ji had a grim expression as the strong cultivators from the two major orthodox clans had them cornered.

“Qianxue, Feiyue. Today we will fight our way through together.” Yuan Ji said with determination as the double halo of his divine sword flashed forth from his sword.

Ling Feiyue said quietly, “It is me that they want…”

Xue Qianxue interrupted her with a soft chuckle, “Sister, if you want to ask us to abandon you then you must be mistaken. They are not getting to you because I will be in their way!”

Yuan Ji turned to look at Ling Feiyue with a grin, “I completely agree with Qianxue on this.”

Ling Feiyue lowered her eyes with a light smile, “Everyone…thank you!”
